Far and Wide, South Shore Beaches Are Favorite

On Monday we asked people what makes the perfect beach and many people answered. Summer is in full tilt and many on Long Island spend the days happily lazing around on the soft sand and in the surf. So what's the favorite beaches for locals?

C Walter said Gilgo Beach wins "hands down."

"Best beach ever," Walter commented on the original post.

Michele Mckeegan Yoeckel voted for Cedar Beach on our Facebook page.

Wendy Spinelli-De Gaetano said Overlook Beach was her favorite.

Darlene Lane chose Cedar instead of Overlook because she doesn't like the showers at Overlook.

Regina E Vought called it a tie "between Rockaway Beach, NY and Myrtle Beach, SC.

Others also thought outside of the box, or, the state.

"Horsehoe Bay In Bermuda baby," said Tom Chivvis.
