Wind Advisory Issued For Long Island, Timeline For First Snowflakes of The Season Expands
Strong winds could bring down power lines and cause power outages in the area.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Long Island with winds expected to gust up to 50 mph on Sunday and Monday.
The timeframe for the first potential snowflakes of the season has also been adjusted. Earlier forecasts called for a chance of snow showers Sunday night, but now the experts are saying there's a chance of snow from about 8 a.m. Sunday until 10 a.m. Monday.
No accumulation is expected, but any precipitation could make for a slippery commute on Monday when the temperature will near the freezing mark of 32 degrees by dawn.

The wind is what will likely end up causing the most headaches. The wind advisory is in effect from 6 a.m Sunday until 6 p.m. Monday. Sustained winds of 25-35 mph along with gusts of up to 50 mph are expected on the island.
Strong winds could blow down limbs and knock down trees and power lines, causing minor property damage and scattered power outages, the National Weather Service says.
