Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Long Island

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Long Island with severe storms possible over the weekend.

There is potential for scattered strong to severe thunderstorms Saturday afternoon into the evening. Damaging wind gusts are the primary threat.

The full forecast:

Friday- A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 10am and 3pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Southwest wind 5 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 67. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Saturday- A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 81. Southwest wind 8 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Saturday Night- A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. Southwest wind 8 to 11 mph.

Sunday- A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 83.

Sunday Night- A 40 percent chance of showers before 9pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 69.

Monday- Sunny, with a high near 85.

Monday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 67.
