Hour-By-Hour LI Snowstorm Forecast; Accumulation Estimates Rise

Ready or not, here it comes. The first snowstorm of the season will hit Long Island Saturday and it could drop more than a half-foot of snow in some areas.

A winter storm warning will be in effect from 4 a.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday for all of Suffolk County, except for the South Fork, which will be under a winter storm advisory over that same time period. In Nassau County, a winter weather advisory will take effect at 4 a.m. Saturday and end at 4 a.m. Sunday.

If you need to be on the roadways, be prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times, the National Weather Service says. Snow accumulation on pavement will be more likely in the afternoon and evening Saturday.

The high temperature Saturday will be near 33 degrees. We will likely hit that around 10 a.m. and then the temperature will remain steady throughout the day. The snow is expected ease up Saturday night before ending early Sunday morning, the NWS says.
