How Town Of Babylon Residents Can Help Others This Holiday Season

Find out about the different events and drives around town to help others in need this holiday.

TOWN OF BABYLON, NY — The holiday season is often a time for many to help others in need. This year, it's more important than ever due to the coronavirus pandemic.

With many suffering from job loss, it has become more difficult for families to bring that holiday meal or gifts for children to their homes.

However, there are still ways for Town of Babylon residents to help those in need despite such a difficult year.

Check out some of the ways below:

  • Councilmen Terry McSweeney, DuWayne Gregory, and Anthony Manetta partnered with Cops N Kids Long Island for a toy/coat drive that ends Jan. 1. Click here for more information.
  • The Town of Babylon Department of Human Services is partnering with NYS Assemblywoman Kimberly Jean-Pierre and Keep Your Change, Inc. to adopt 9 homeless shelters in the town for the holidays. Donations will be accepted until Dec. 22. Click here for more information.
  • The Village of Lindenhurst will be hosting a Holiday Food Drive until Dec. 22 to benefit local food pantries. Donations can be dropped off at the Lindenhurst Village Hall main lobby on 430 S. Wellwood Avenue Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and at the Lindenhurst Memorial Library on 1 Lee Avenue Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The New York Tow Trucks for Families Drive-Thru Toy Drive will take place on Dec. 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lindenhurst Village Square Park Gazebo.
  • North Babylon teen Emily Meyer hosts her popular "Emily's Awesome Toy Drive" every year. All the toys donated go to children in hospitals. Click here to find more information.
