Long Island Weather: More Than 40,000 Without Power
A high wind warning remains in effect until 6 a.m. Monday as a major storm continues to wallop the region.

More than 40,000 Long Islanders lost power Sunday night as a major coastal storm slammed the region.
As of 11:48 p.m., PSEG Long Island says 40,004 of its 1.1 million customers are without power. To report a power outage, downed wire or other hazardous condition, call 1-800-490-0075. See the PSEG outage map here.
A high wind warning remains in effect until 6 a.m. for the entire island. Damaging winds with gusts up to 65 mph are likely through 3 a.m. Isolated gusts up to 75 mph are possible in Suffolk County.

A flash flood watch is in effect until 6 a.m. Monday for the entire island.
"Between 2 to 4 inches of rain have fallen across the region, with an additional 1 to 3 inches rain possible overnight," the National Weather Service says.

Wind gusts of close to 50 mph will remain possible through Monday morning. Any lingering rain showers should end by the afternoon.

The full forecast:
Sunday Night- Rain and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then showers, mainly between midnight and 3am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 52. Windy, with a southeast wind 31 to 36 mph becoming southwest 17 to 22 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 60 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Monday- A 50 percent chance of showers before noon. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a steady temperature around 55. Windy, with a west wind 23 to 26 mph, with gusts as high as 48 mph.
Monday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 45. West wind 13 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.
Tuesday- Sunny, with a high near 58. West wind 10 to 16 mph.
Tuesday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 42. West wind 5 to 11 mph.
