LI Teacher Looking To Raise Money To Fix School Basketball Court
The teacher started a GoFundMe to help raise money to repair a local elementary school basketball court and bring smiles to the students.
WYANDANCH, NY — A local teacher is looking to raise money to help fix the basketball court at a Wyandanch elementary school.
Earlier this week, Mike Buttitta, a teacher at Wyandanch Memorial High School, started a GoFundMe page to raise $20,000 to fix the basketball court at the school near his home which he said is in "disrepair" and in need of improvements.
"Each day on the way to work I pass a basketball court at an elementary school near where I live and I can't help but dream of helping to give the students at our middle school the same great facilities," he wrote. "Updating and repairing our basketball court will impact the lives of over 500 students at our school."

In just four days, the fundraiser has raised $7,715 to help improve the court.
"I am just so excited to think about the look on the student's faces as they see the construction of, and unveiling of, a brand new basketball court to fly around on," Buttitta wrote.
