Next Chance Of Snow Emerges In LI Forecast

See when snow could impact a work week commute.

Long Island will likely see some snow and sleet on Monday, the National Weather Service says. It won't be much, but the timing isn't great.

Snow is expected to begin falling Monday afternoon and it may mix with sleet during the evening commute. About an inch of snow and sleet accumulation is likely, the weather service says.

Saturday Night- Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 43. Breezy, with a west wind 18 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph.

Sunday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 46. Breezy, with a west wind 18 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph.

Sunday Night- Increasing clouds, with a low around 26. West wind 8 to 17 mph.

Monday- Snow likely, mainly after 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. Wind chill values between 20 and 30. West wind 5 to 9 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Monday Night- Rain, snow, and sleet before 9pm, then rain and snow between 9pm and 10pm, then rain after 10pm. Temperature rising to around 41 by 4am. Light and variable wind becoming east 5 to 9 mph in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tuesday- Rain. High near 44. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30.

Wednesday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 37.
