Pedestrian Seriously Injured In Hit-And-Run Crash

The 30-year-old was struck by a car that fled the scene on Sunrise Highway early Tuesday.

NORTH AMITYVILLE, NY — A pedestrian was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in North Amityville early Tuesday, according to Suffolk police.

Officers responded to a 911 report of an injured pedestrian on westbound Sunrise Highway, just west of Bayview Avenue, at 1:34 a.m. When officers arrived on the scene, they found an injured man lying in the roadway.

The 30-year-old man, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip in serious condition.

Following an investigation, detectives determined the man was struck by a car that fled the scene.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the First Squad 631-854-8152 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-220-TIPS.
