Pizza Delivery Driver Killed In West Babylon Crash

Carlos Mora was making a delivery for Gino's Pizza of Babylon when he died in a head-on crash. Another driver was charged.

WEST BABYLON, NY — A pizza delivery driver was killed in a head-on crash involving a driver with a suspended license in West Babylon Wednesday afternoon, according to Suffolk police. Michelle Cordovano was driving a 2012 Jeep Liberty northbound on Bergen Avenue at 4:30 p.m. when her vehicle crossed into the southbound lane, striking a 2015 Toyota Prius driven by Carlos Mora, police said.

Mora, 49, of Babylon, was making a delivery for Gino’s Pizza of Babylon, located on 258 Deer Park Avenue, at the time of the crash, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic from West Babylon Rescue Ambulance. A physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner also responded to the scene.

Cordovano, 28, of West Babylon, and a woman in her vehicle were taken to to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with injures that were not considered life-threatening, police said. Cordovano was charged with driving with a suspended license and is scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip.
