Register Now For The About Boating Safely Course by U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Babylon 1-1
Now is the time to take your "About Boating Safely Course". This course meets the requirements of the May 2014 " NYS Boating Law"
The US Coast Guard Auxilliary Flotilla 1-1 Babylon, NY is offering several Boating courses that are open to the public. The first course entitled “About Boating Safely” will be held at West Islip High School in Room 109 on Wednesdays March 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th from 6:30-9 PM as part of the West Islip Adult Education Program . This course meets the requirements of the new NYS Boating Law which went into effect in May 2014. This Safe Boating Course is designed for beginners and/or experienced boaters who would like to sharpen their Boating Skills. Topics covered include boating safety, navigation, aids to navigation, trailering, common boating problems, required safety equipment, etc. This course will also include instruction on PWC’s. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a certificate acceptable to NY State for the operation of recreational boats and/or personal watercraft (PWC). Many boat insurers offer discounts to boaters who have successfully completed a boating safety course. There is a $35.00 course materials fee and a $10.00 Registration Fee to WISD. This same course will be offered at West Babylon High School. Classes are Tuesdays, 3/10, 3/17, 3/24 and 3/31 @ 6:30-9 PM at West Babylon Sr. High School Library. This course will also be offered in a one-day format on Saturday, March 7th, at St. Joseph’s College, O’Connor Hall, Room N212, 155 West Roe Blvd, Patchogue, NY from 8:00 AM-4:30 PM.
