Senator Boyle Calls For Answers On Long Island Serial Killer Case
The state senator from the district covering Gilgo Beach held a news conference on Monday morning "demanding" information on the case.

OAK BEACH, NY—On Monday morning State Senator Phil Boyle, a Republican representing Long Island's 4th district, held a news conference at Oak Beach asking for information on the Gilgo Beach bodies to be released. Boyle's senate district covers the area covering Gilgo Beach where the bodies assumed to be victims of the Long Island Serial Killer (LISK.)
Boyle recapped the events surrounding former Suffolk police chief James Burke's criminal case and said "what happened those next three years was a coverup was a coverup between Spota, Burke, McPartland and other detectives."
Many of Boyle's statements criticized Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, a Democrat, for failing to fire Burke after his numerous transgressions.

An aide for Bellone told Patch that the claim Bellone never fired Burke is inaccurate, referring to testimony former Suffolk District Attorney Spota's ex-chief deputy Emily Constant made in Spota's federal trial. Constant stated that "Burke said Bellone told him with certainty when he fired Burke that he knew Burke had assaulted Loeb and was going to be arrested and prosecuted."

"The people of Suffolk County...deserve to know if the police chief who has been accused of this actually didn't do this," Boyle said, referring to questions about Burke's involvement in the case.
"The residents need to know that everything that could have been done was done.”
Suffolk Police issued the following statement in response:
“The Gilgo Beach homicide investigation continues to be a top priority for the Suffolk County Police Department. The department has detectives who are solely dedicated to this investigation and our department is working closely with both the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office and with the FBI. The Suffolk County Police Department does not comment on suspects in any criminal investigation.”
