Shark Week At Robert Moses: LI Resident Spots Little Shark
Watch video of the shark, which was spotted at the Long Island beach last week.
LONG ISLAND, NY — Shark Week may have ended last week, but one shark spotted near Long Island recently didn't seem to get the memo. Local resident Janee Law was enjoying a day at the beach at Robert Moses State Park Friday morning when she said she saw a couple of people heading to the shoreline and pointing out to the water.
"I quickly grabbed my phone and headed towards the crowd," she told Patch. "I asked the people around me what they were looking at and they said, 'There's a shark in the water.'"
She spotted a small fin bobbing in and out of the water and managed to catch video of the small shark being caught by lifeguards. Being a huge Shark Week fan, she was excited to see one in person.

"I couldn't help but follow it as it moved further down the beach," she said. "It eventually started getting washed up on shore and that's when the lifeguards took control of the situation."
The lifeguards put the shark back in the water further down the beach, away from the crowd, to keep people and the shark safe.
