Long Island Weather: Snow, Rain on The Way
We've got the latest forecast with details on potential impacts to the Monday morning commute.
It's no winter storm and any snow could very well be washed away by daybreak Monday, but Long Island is expected to see some of the white stuff on Sunday.
Sunday started out dry, but the chances for snow will rapidly increase in afternoon, the National Weather Service says. Up to a half inch of snow is expected to accumulate on the island before the precipitation changes over to rain around midnight.
That rain is expected to continue through Monday morning. It could be a slow ride to work Monday, but icy roadways shouldn't be a problem. Temperatures will remain quite steady in the mid-30s the rest of Sunday, but will rise to near 40 degrees by 6 a.m. Monday.

The rain will taper off Monday afternoon after the passage of a cold front, the NWS says. It will be windy on Monday with gusts over 30 mph likely on Long Island.
Looking ahead, the coldest airmass of the season is expected later in the week. Temperatures are expected to drop into the mid-teens Thursday night.
