Teacher Of The Week: Ms. Janice Dougherty

The West Babylon teacher was chosen as this week's teacher of the week. Congratulations Ms. Dougherty!

WEST BABYLON, NY - Everybody has a favorite teacher — maybe it's a teacher who went out of their way to make one student's day or a teacher who brightens up a classroom, whether virtually or in-person, every day.

One teacher who deserves a shout-out is Ms. Janice Dougherty, who has been teaching at West Babylon elementary schools for over 21 years. She was nominated as this week's Teacher of the Week by Jeff Sabol.

According to Sabol, Ms. Dougherty teaches five to six classes a day as an art teacher both remote and in-person simultaneously. He nominated her for handling a very stressful situation with a smile and with two of her own children at home who are learning remotely.

Here's what Sabol had to say about Ms. Dougherty:

She spent almost all 10 days of the Christmas break working on teaching techniques to help her many remote students learn as easily as her in-class students! She is concerned that the remote students are falling behind, especially with the touch/feel portions of her Art lessons.

Congratulations to Ms. Dougherty!
