Ten Year Anniversary Of Gilgo Bodies: Media Coverage Roundup
A decade after the grisly discoveries, a slew of specials and reports reflect back on ten years of the case and what we know now.

LONG ISLAND, NY — It's been a decade since the discovery of the human remains at Gilgo Beach that began a still-unsolved case that's fascinated Long Islanders ever since. December 11, 2010 was the date the first body was found by Suffolk County police searching for missing woman Shannan Gilbert. The body was later identified as missing woman Melissa Barthelemy.
Ten human bodies were ultimately found over several searches, including an unidentified toddler. The case is still in the news: More photos of a belt found in association with the case was released by investigators, hoping for tips. Shannan Gilbert's lawyer is still fighting to have the 911 tapes from the night of her disappearance released.
The ten-year anniversary is prompting a slew of retrospectives on the case.
