Built on the site of a former King Kullen, the 39,241-square-foot store, located within Sunset Plaza, was gutted and retrofit to Uncle Giuseppe's exacting standards. Despite the challenges fueled by the COVID-19 pandemic and the New York State on PAUSE executive order, construction was completed successfully and ahead of a slated March 2021 schedule. As a result, a soft opening was launched in mid-December 2020, providing an opportunity for the local community to shop during the holiday season.
Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace is an organization of inclusion that is employing more than 200 full-time and part-time associates from the local communities surrounding the North Babylon location. Staff and team training began in early November 2020 in advance of the soft opening.
