The Village of Babylon achieved Tree City USA recognition by meeting the program’s four requirements: a tree board or department, a tree-care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita, and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.
Babylon Beautification Society President, Frank Petruzzo (pictured right), and Village of Babylon Tree Board Chair, Chris Genzmann, (pictured left) joined Mayor Mary E. Adams (centered) at Village Hall on March 3, 2021, for a small recognition ceremony.

"The Babylon Beautification Society began this process in early 2019 and partnered with the Village of Babylon to obtain this prestigious recognition,” said Chris Genzmann.
Mayor Mary Adams spearheaded the project as a trustee and worked to get the village tree ordinance passed and the tree board formed. “Trees are assets to a community when properly planted and maintained. They help to improve the visual appeal of neighborhoods, increase property values, reduce home cooling costs, remove air pollutants and provide wildlife habitat,” said Adams.
Tree City USA signs have been placed at entry points in our village with plans to add more in the coming months.
We are pleased to announce via an official Proclamation by Mayor Mary E. Adams, that Sunday, May 2, 2021, is designated as Arbor Day in the Village of Babylon.
The Baylon Beautification Society is proud to again sponsor the official Arbor Day Celebration, which will be held at The Nathaniel Conklin House. This year's celebration will be dedicated to the late Mayor Ralph Scordino.
Watch for more information in the coming weeks regarding the celebration.
