West Babylon High School's Class of 2014 Graduate to Alumni Status

West Babylon High School’s graduating Class of 2014 was serenaded by the school band’s rendition of “Pomp and Circumstance” and the cheers of family members and friends looking on.

Principal Dr. Ellice F. Vassallo greeted the graduates for the last time before National Honor Society president Alexandra Martocci led the Pledge of Allegiance and the band performed the national anthem and the song “God Bless America.”

This class of graduating seniors was “remarkable for [its] difference and dedication,” declared Salutatorian Julie Barrett. She encouraged her peers to keep laughter in their lives.

Board of Education president Diane Thiel called the class “a generous class and a living example of gratitude.”

“One person can make a difference in the world. Be that person,” she said.

Superintendent of Schools Anthony Cacciola thanked the class for making both their parents and the district proud, and encouraged graduates to put life into perspective and appreciate what is truly important. “Life is measured by the moments that take your breath away,” he said.

The concert choir performed a “senior medley” arranged by concert choir director Joseph Barone. Songs included “Thanks for the Memories,” “Survivor,” “Best Day of My Life,” “Fly Like an Eagle” and others.

The graduates were then called on to receive their diplomas from Principal Vassallo, becoming official alumni of West Babylon High.
