Two Queens elected officials gave Bay Terrace resident Ann Nasi a New York State Proclamation in honor of her 100th birthday.

BAY TERRACE, QUEENS — A woman who has lived in Bay Terrace for over three decades was given a New York State Proclamation by two Queens elected officials on Tuesday, in honor of her 100th birthday.
The centenarian, Ann Nasi, celebrated her birthday with friends and family as well as Assemblyman Edward C. Braunstein and State Senator John Liu — who represent Assembly District 26, and New York Senate District 11, respectively, both of which include Nasi's Bay Terrace neighborhood.
Assemblyman Braunstein said it was an "honor" to celebrate Nasi's birthday adding that she's "brightened the lives of so many with her warmth, wisdom, and generosity." He also wished her "continued health and prosperity.”

State Senator Liu even went as far as saying that celebrating her birthday is "truly a perk of office." He added: "Ann has seen with her own eyes the course of human trial and progress over the past century, and her life experiences are profound and invaluable."
Nasi was born on April 21, 1921, just about a year after the 1918 influenza pandemic subsided.

The State Senator said that at her celebration she shared "observations that past pandemics and economic recessions were never as bad as today’s times" which struck him as "poignant and insightful."
Nasi was a dressmaker for 45 years, and is known to help her neighbors in Bay Terrace alter or mend their clothing.
