2 Outdoor Public Pools In Bayside Will Reopen On Saturday
The Bayside pools are 2 of 7 public, outdoor pools in Queens — most of which will reopen on Saturday June 26 for first time this summer.
BAYSIDE, QUEENS — Two outdoor, public pools in Bayside are reopening this Saturday, just in time for the hot and muggy months of July and August.
Fort Totten Park Pool, located at 338 Story Road in Fort Totten Park, and the Marie Curie Park Pool, located at 211th Street and 46th Avenue are two of several dozen outdoor, public pools in New York City — most of which are slated to reopen on Saturday June 26 for the first time in over a year, according to the city’s Parks Department.
Pool hours at both of the Bayside pools will be from 11:00 a.m. through 7:00 p.m. daily, with an hour-long break for pool cleaning between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

In a news release, NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver, described the opening of outdoor pools as an "exciting step in our collective return to normalcy," adding that he is "thrilled to officially open outdoor pools for the season."
The city's public pools will be open through Sunday, September 12, according to the Parks Department.

Although the city’s public pools will be open this summer, the usual slate of summer programs — like free swim lessons and programs for people with disabilities — won’t take place as usual, since the pandemic hindered the city’s ability to hire and train lifeguards.
There will still be lifeguards on duty at the pools, and the pools will still have dispensers with free, broad-spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen, according to the Parks Department.
All you need in order to visit Fort Totten Park Pool or the Marie Curie Park Pool is a bathing suit and a combination lock if you want to lock up your belongings. The Parks Department also suggests leaving food, glass bottles, electronic devices, valuable items, and newspapers at home.
The pools in Bayside are two of seven outdoor public pools in Queens, including the PS 186 Playground Pool located nearby in Glen Oaks.
