Bayside Pharmacies To Start Administering Coronavirus Vaccines

Three Bayside pharmacies are now offering COVID-19 vaccine appointments to those 65 and older under a new federal program.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — Three pharmacies in Bayside have joined the push to administer COVID-19 vaccines to seniors.

The three Walgreens and Rite Aide pharmacy outposts are among 268 pharmacy locations across the city that are now offering vaccination appointments to anyone 65 and older under the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program.

Other nearby locations offering vaccine appointments are the Walgreens/Duane Reade outposts at 193-01 Northern Blvd., 61-29 Springfield Blvd. and 249-46 Horace Harding Expressway, according to the city's COVID-19 Vaccine Finder map.

All those pharmacies will offer the Moderna vaccine, by appointment only.

The Federal Retail Pharmacy Program will deliver 26,500 vaccine doses a week to Walgreens, Duane Reade, Costco and Rite Aid pharmacies across New York City, officials announced Thursday.

"Pharmacies are a trusted part of our infrastructure, particularly for seniors who rely on them for medications and other services," Dave Chokshi, the city's health commissioner, said in a statement. "These additional doses will be a lifeline for so many city residents."

Eligible New Yorkers can book vaccine appointments online at vaccinefinder.nyc.gov.
