Bayside's Annual Totten Trot 5K Goes Virtual During Pandemic

The annual race, which doubles as a fundraiser for the Bayside Historical Society, is being held virtually this year due to the coronavirus.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — Lace up those running shoes: The Totten Trot 5K is back.

The annual race, which doubles as a fundraiser for the Bayside Historical Society, is being held virtually this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Runners register online, then choose their own course and post their times.

Participants can also enter the Totten Trot's Halloween costume contest by sending in up to five photos of themselves running or walking in costume. The best three costumes and best group theme will win prizes.

Proceeds from the $25 registration fee will go to the Bayside Historical Society's programming and to maintenance of its home in the former Officers' Club at Fort Totten, known as "The Castle."
