Beating The Heat With Class

While Patch spotted several improvised do-rags on the heads of pedestrians on Bell Blvd. today, one clever Bayside came up with a different way to shade herself from the 97 degree heat.

This elegant waman walking down 40th Ave. did not wish to share her name. She did share her inspiration for the look; "The Chinese women in Flushing," she said.

Silk umbrellas, or parasols, were used as sunshades all the time in days gone by, she said.
