City Parks Foundation Announces SummerStage Kids Events in Queens

Free Performing Arts Events in Queens from July 7 - August 13, 2015 Presented by Disney

City Parks Foundation is proud to announce the 2015 launch of SummerStage Kids, New York City’s unique, interactive family festival presenting more than 90 performing arts events at 34 locations citywide. This free festival will run from July 7th to August 13th in Queens, exposing audiences to the local, national and international world of arts and culture, through a diverse collection of engaging artists unparalleled by any other festival of its kind in New York City.

“SummerStage Kids is a one of a kind performing arts festival that tailors its offerings specifically to an all-ages audience. The festival is thoughtfully curated to appeal to the broad New York City community, while also endeavouring to present unique and culturally specific music, dance, and circus performances that both entertain and educate,” said Monique Martin, Programming Director for City Parks Foundation.

The 2015 season marks the third year of SummerStage Kids’ focus on contemporary circus. Families will get the chance to see the best circus companies, from North America and beyond, make their mark in New York City as part of the “International Contemporary Circus Festival.” Brooklyn Bridge Park will again host two days of circus, this year with Swedish company Magmanus, while Harlem will see New England based Tinder & Ash for two nights in Marcus Garvey Park. For the first time, SummerStage Kids will also bring an evening circus program to the Bronx, with Brooklyn’s own Hybrid Movement Company and, from the state of Washington, The Incredible Incredible, performing for one night in Crotona Park. Featuring everything from Bollywood style juggling, hoop diving, and partner acrobatics, this mini-festival will deliver circus theatrics like you’ve never seen before!
