Parker Jewish Institute is proud to announce that Kathleen Darmstadt, Vice President of Finance, has been selected as a Notable Woman in Accounting by Crain’s New York Business 2020.

Crain’s recognized Ms. Darmstadt for her role to “protect protect the city’s most vulnerable,” and pointed to her expertise in finance and accounting.

“Leveraging her financial prowess for the Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation, Darmstadt sought to procure personal protective equipment when that was no small task, and she navigated thorny budgetary issues to keep the organization afloat,” Crain’s noted in this year’s “Notable Women in Accounting & Consulting.”

As the COVID-19 crisis unfolded in New York, Ms. Darmstadt took aggressive action while ensuring fiscal responsibility for the organization. With her financial expertise, Parker procured additional personal protective equipment rather than wait for government-provided equipment or funding, likely saving lives in the process. She ensured Parker’s resiliency, navigating budgetary challenges that included increased staffing and overtime, and investing in UV-lighting to help fight against COVID-19. Now she’s helping lead Parker to successfully advance in uncertain times.

Ms. Darmstadt brings more than 20 years of non-profit experience to Parker’s finance department. She joined Parker in 2007 as Director of Finance, and was promoted to her current position in 2018.

Ms. Darmstadt has been instrumental to Parker’s fiscal health. She re-invigorated the staff to enhance the cash collection process. She spearheaded a seamless conversion of the payroll system from ADP to Smartlinx. This challenge was complex, as Parker employs over 1,200 employees who work various shifts and schedules.

“On behalf of the Parker community, we congratulate Kathleen Darmstadt for this wonderful and well-deserved recognition as a Notable Woman in Accounting by Crain’s New York Business,” said Michael N. Rosenblut, Parker’s President and CEO. “Her knowledge and dedication make her an integral part of Parker’s executive leadership.”
