This NE Queens Area Has One Of NYC's Highest Vaccination Rates

GLEN OAKS, QUEENS — The ZIP code that contains Glen Oaks and Bellerose has the second-highest rate of residents fully vaccinated against the coronavirus in New York City, according to new data released Tuesday.

Within the ZIP code 11004, 20 percent of adults have gotten both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, which translates into 3,243 people, according to data from the New York City Department of Health.

That rate is higher than in any other New York City ZIP code except for 10464, which encompasses City Island in The Bronx, the data shows. There, a quarter of adults are fully vaccinated, or 865 people.

The 11004 ZIP code — incorrectly labeled as Douglaston, Little Neck and Bellerose in the city's dataset — also has the third-highest rate of partially-vaccinated residents, meaning those who have gotten at least one shot of the two-dose vaccine.

The neighborhood trails Breezy Point on the Rockaway Peninsula, which has the second-highest rate of those partially vaccinated: 27 percent of adults have gotten only one dose, although only 13 percent have received both doses.

In total, about 6,500 people in the ZIP code 11004 have received either one or both vaccine doses.

The new data shows that, despite the lack of a permanent vaccination site in Northeast Queens, the region's residents are still managing to get their shots.

Northeast Queens has one of the largest senior populations in New York City, which means a high proportion of residents meet the 65-or-older qualification to get a vaccine.

Other Northeast Queens ZIP codes have similarly high vaccination rates, according to the data.
