Flushing Dim Sum Eatery To Open Bayside Spot On Bell Blvd

You Garden Xiao Long Bao is slated to open on Bell Boulevard by the end of August, owners said.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS -- A Flushing-based dim sum eatery will be serving up its signature dumplings and other Shanghainese dishes from a second location in downtown Bayside by the month's end, owners said.

Shanghai You Garden, located on the corner of Prince and Main Street, is slated to open its highly-anticipated second spot at 41-07 Bell Blvd. within the next two weeks, owners told Patch.

You Garden Xiao Long Bao will take over the 5,417-square-foot space from the Golden Wine and Liquor Store, which moved across the street, city records show.

Shanghai You Garden bills itself a cornerstone in the Flushing community serving classic Chinese dishes with a modern twist. Owners said the new Bayside eatery's menu will mirror that of the original Flushing location.

The restaurant will offer a wide dim sum menu, including xiaolongbao - a Chinese steamed dumpling named after the xiaolong bamboo basket it's traditionally steamed in, an employee said. They will also serve noodles, cold dish appetizers and soup.

Michael Pan, of Bayside, is among a growing crowd of residents eagerly awaiting the restaurant's opening and the variety of cuisine it will bring to the neighborhood.

"It opens up a new culinary experience that the neighborhood hasn't seen before," Pan told Patch.

"There's also excitement from the residents who've been there, because now they won't have to travel all the way to Flushing."
