Lowered Northern Boulevard Speed Limit Goes Into Effect
A lower speed limit has gone into effect along a 7-mile stretch of Northern Boulevard in Queens. Here's what you need to know.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A lower speed limit has gone into effect along a 7-mile stretch of Northern Boulevard in Queens.
Between 114th Street and Glenwood Street, drivers on Northern Boulevard are now subject to a 25 mph speed limit, the NYC Department of Transportation said Wednesday.
The reduced speed limit is down from 30 mph. Speed cameras along Northern Boulevard will issue violations at the previous speed limit for the first 60 days.

Northern Boulevard is among nine major roadways with high crash rates getting lower speed limits as part of the mayor's Vision Zero initiative, officials announced at the start of the month.
"Slower speed limits, speed cameras, and increased enforcement will save lives and keep New York City the safest big city in America for the next generation," Mayor Bill de Blasio said.
