'Madam Secretary' To Film In Bayside

Cast and crew for the hit CBS political drama will take over Bell Boulevard on Friday.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS -- The cast of a popular CBS drama will take over downtown Bayside to shoot scenes for an upcoming episode.

Film crews and production trucks for "Madam Secretary" will line Bell Boulevard on Friday to film for the political CBS TV series, according to flyers posted along the downtown strip.

"Madam Secretary" follows former CIA analyst Elizabeth McCord (played by Tea Leoni) who was appointed Secretary of State after her predecessor died in a suspicious plane crash. The CBS political drama - now in the midst of its fourth season - also stars Tim Daly as McCord's husband and Bebe Neuwirth as her chief of staff.

Parking restrictions along Bell Boulevard will go into effect at 10 p.m. on Thursday to make way for the show's cast and crew. The NYPD will tow all vehicles still in the area past that time to the nearest legal location.

This isn't the first time a CBS TV series has chosen Bayside as its backdrop. The neighborhood has also been a popular filming spot for "Elementary," a CBS crime drama loosely based on Sherlock Holmes, which returned most recently to shoot scenes for the show's season six finale, Patch previously reported.

"We were looking for kind of a residential-looking home in the city and this worked out," said Morgan Collins, location coordinator for "Elementary."

Representatives from "Madam Secretary" did not immediately return calls for comment.
