Man Charged With Murder Of Pregnant Girlfriend In Bayside: Police

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A Long Island man was arrested Monday night in the murder of a pregnant woman who was found dead on the side of the road in Bayside, the NYPD announced.

Uniondale resident Goey Charles, 29, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the slaying of his girlfriend, Vanessa Pierre, whose body was discovered Friday morning along the Horace Harding Expressway near Bell Boulevard, police said.

Pierre, 29, was six months pregnant, her father told the New York Daily News. She and Charles had been dating for about a year.

In a tweet, NYPD Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison shared surveillance footage of a man dragging Pierre's body from his car and leaving her facedown on the sidewalk.

Pierre was in her pajamas with a sweatshirt wrapped around her neck when police found her Friday, indicating she may have been strangled, the Daily News reported.

She lived in Hempstead, Long Island, and worked as a nurse practitioner in a nursing home, according to the Daily News.
