Man Hit, Killed Trying To Cross Long Island Expressway: NYPD
A Toyota SUV struck the Jackson Heights man as he tried to cross the busy highway on foot, police say.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS -- A Queens man was fatally struck by an SUV while trying to cross the Long Island Expressway on foot Tuesday night, authorities said.
Sameer Chettri, 35, had been trying to walk across the busy highway near 219 Street in Bayside when he was mowed down by a 2017 Toyota SUV at around 9 p.m., police said. Cops responding to the 911 call found the Jackson Heights man sprawled unconscious on the LIE with trauma to his head and body.
Medics rushed Chettri to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver, a 52-year-old woman, pulled off the highway after hitting Chettri and remained at the crash scene with police, authorities said. No arrests were made.
The LIE westbound lanes were closed at Springfield Boulevard while cops investigated the crash.
