Man Scams Elderly Bayside Man Out Of $9,000 Dollars: Cops
The man posed as a bail bondsman and picked up $9,000 from the 79-year-old victim's Bayside home.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A man who scammed an elderly man out of thousands of dollars last Friday is still being sought by police, the NYPD said on Thursday.
Around noon on Friday, May 28, a 79-year-old man living in Bayside got a call from an unknown man, who duped the elderly victim into thinking that his son was arrested in New Jersey and needed $9,000 for bail. The scammer told the man that a bail bondsman would stop by and pick up the bail payment from his home, according to the police.
The NYPD said that the victim took out the supposed bail payment from the bank, and gave it in an envelope to an unknown man who stopped by the house later that day. It was only after that that he spoke to his son, and learned that the entire story had been made up.
