Mickey's Place, Longtime Bayside Sushi Restaurant, Closes

Mickey's Place became known for its sushi in Forest Hills, before the restaurant decamped to Bayside's Bell Boulevard.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — Beloved sushi restaurant Mickey's Place closed its doors Sunday, after years serving customers from Forest Hills to Bayside, according to social media posts.

"Thank you all for the years of love and support," the owners wrote in a Facebook post. "We do not currently have plans to re-open at another location, but will update you all here if we do."

The family-owned Japanese restaurant, which opened in 1986, first accumulated a fanbase in Forest Hills before relocating to Bell Boulevard in Bayside.

Commenters on Facebook shared memories of their favorite dishes there over the years, from spicy tuna hand rolls to the avocado bomb.

In a Facebook post, the blog Restaurant Fairy called the restaurant's team "a tightly knit community, hard working, genuinely good humans beings with so much soul."

"We thank you for your strong support in this difficult period," the Mickey's team wrote in a sign posted in the restaurant. "We will never forget all the kindness you shared."
