Mile-Long Portion Of Grand Central Parkway To Get $8.2M Overhaul
The project will link entrance and exit ramps along the Grand Central Parkway in Holliswood, an effort to cut traffic and increase safety.

HOLLISWOOD, QUEENS — A new transportation project will link entrance and exit ramps along the Grand Central Parkway to reduce traffic and increase safety, the state Department of Transportation announced this week.
The $8.2 million project will create a continuous lane for merging on and off the westbound Grand Central Parkway between Francis Lewis Boulevard and 188th Street, a mile-long stretch, according to a news release.
It will also connect the 188th Street entrance ramp and the Francis Lewis Boulevard exit ramp on the eastbound side.

“These improvements on the Grand Central Parkway will ease merges, improve traffic flow and reduce congestion for the tens of thousands who travel it every day," New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez said.
The project, which also includes new guardrails and LED lighting, is scheduled to wrap up in summer 2021.
