Mother-Daughter Duo Opens Art Studio In Bayside Plaza

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A mother and daughter team is opening a new art studio in Bayside Plaza this weekend.

Bee You ArtStudio will offer painting parties, after-school classes, summer camps for kids and BYOB "Paint and Sip" nights for adults. The studio celebrates its grand opening at 32-43 Francis Lewis Blvd. with raffles, prizes and refreshments on April 6 and 7.

“When we looked at Bayside and the surrounding area we realized that there’s an amazing opportunity to offer something that just doesn’t exist right now," co-owner Mary Ramadan said.

She and her daughter, Janine, previously ran an off-site arts camp for kids. The duo brings a wealth of experience to Bayside: Mary worked as a graphic designer for 15 years, and Janine teaches graphic design and drawing at The Mary Louis Academy in Jamaica Estates.

“We are so passionate about the positive benefits that painting and art can bring to people’s lives — for kids it’s a new outlet that allows them to express themselves, and for adults it can bring a mindfulness and calm that’s hard to find in our busy lives,” Janine said.

The Bayside Plaza studio will be open Tuesday through Sunday.
