Northern Boulevard Gets Lowered Speed Limit
A reduced speed limit along Northern Boulevard will go into effect in the next four to six weeks, city officials announced Tuesday.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — The city is lowering the speed limit along a 7-mile stretch of Northern Boulevard in Queens, officials announced Tuesday.
From 114th Street to Glenwood Street, drivers on Northern Boulevard will have to go no more than 25 mph once the new speed limit goes into effect in four to six weeks.
The reduced speed limit, down from 30 mph, is effective once Department of Transportation crews install new signage along the boulevard. Speed cameras will only issue warnings for 60 days after new signage goes up.

Northern Boulevard is among nine major roadways with high crash rates that are getting lower speed limits as part of the mayor's Vision Zero initiative to make city streets safer and eliminate crash-related deaths.
