BAYSIDE, QUEENS — Patients at St. Mary's Hospital for Children got a special Halloween surprise this past weekend: a visit from real-life superheroes.
Officers from the NYPD's emergency services unit dressed as Spider-Man, Batman and other comic book heroes rappelled from the roof of the Bayside children's hospital on Saturday to surprise patients.
The event was co-hosted by the NYPD charity "With Arms Wide Open," which serves families of children with complex medical issues. Founder Merritt Riley's son is part of St. Mary's home care program, according to a press release.
