Obituary: Julia McDowell Seidel

Julia McDowell Seidel, a 60-year resident of Queens, died on Oct. 30, which was just three weeks before her 90th birthday.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Joseph Seidel, daughter Paula Falkowski and son Michael Seidel. Sons Joseph and Stephen Seidel preceded Julia in death. 

She is also survived by her sister, Veronica Degnan, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. 

Julia Seidel touched and protected the lives of many children as she served as crossing guard for the St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic School for more than 25 years. 

Julia brought her keen wit and sense of humor, professionalism and compassion to her post every day. 

Arrangements will take place at Gleason Funeral Home, 36-46 Bell Boulevard, Bayside, NY on Nov. 1. 

Funeral mass will be held on Nov. 2 at St. Robert Bellarmine in Bayside. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Julia Seidel to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001.
