BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A pedestrian was hurt in a car crash on the same stretch of Bell Boulevard where an 88-year-old Bayside woman was hit and killed over the weekend, according to police.

The 74-year-old woman was crossing Bell Boulevard just north of 48th Avenue Thursday evening when a driver heading south on Bell switched lanes and crashed into her, an NYPD spokesperson told Patch.

The driver, a 62-year-old man in a Toyota Camry, stopped short and was rear-ended by a driver behind the wheel of a police car, the spokesperson said.

First responders rushed the pedestrian to North Shore University Hospital, where she is in stable condition and being treated for a broken rib, an arm injury and cuts to her face, according to police.

It's unclear whether the driver received any summonses or faces any charges in connection with the crash, which is still under investigation.

The crash happened just north of the intersection where Dolores Soho was killed Sunday afternoon by a van driver who was making a left turn onto Bell Boulevard.

Soho was the second pedestrian to die in a crash on Bell this month: Deborah Scherer, a 64-year-old Oakland Gardens resident, died three days after a driver slammed into her Feb. 6 at the intersection of Bell and 75th Avenue.

There have been more than 100 crashes on the 1.3-mile stretch of Bell Boulevard between 48th and 75th Avenues since February 2018, according to Streetsblog New York.
