Queens Farm To Debut Corn Maze In The Shape Of The Unisphere

The Queens County Farm Museum is transforming the iconic World's Fair monument in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park into a corn maze.

FLORAL PARK, QUEENS — The Queens County Farm Museum is turning Flushing Meadows-Corona Park's iconic Unisphere into a three-acre corn maze for this year's county fair.

The Unisphere-inspired Amazing Maize Maze makes its grand debut during the 37th Annual Queens County Fair on Sept. 21 and 22, a two-day extravaganza featuring carnival rides and games, performances and the Queens Farm's blue ribbon contest.

Commissioned for the New York World's Fair of 1964-65 and designed by landscape architect Gilmore Glarke, the Unisphere has since become a beloved borough symbol.

“This a-maize-ing tribute pays homage to Queens’ roots and celebrates one of our city’s most iconic landmarks," Queens Borough Commissioner for NYC Parks Michael Dockett said in a statement. "But most of all – it’s a bushel of fun!"
