Queens Teen Sues Lyft After Driver Masturbated During Ride

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A Queens teenager who caught her Lyft driver masturbating is suing the ride-share company over its process for vetting drivers, court records show.

The 14-year-old girl, identified only as M.B., is arguing that Lyft failed to properly investigate its drivers and should have known her driver was "a danger to passengers" and "unfit" to drive for Lyft, the lawsuit says.

"Lyft's actions go beyond all possible bounds of decency," the complaint, filed this week in Queens Supreme Court, reads.

The teen was taking a Lyft from Bayside to Flushing on Oct. 12, 2018 when her driver started masturbating, according to the suit.

She used her phone to record a three-second video catching him in the act, which she later gave police, the New York Post reported.

He was charged with harassment and endangering the welfare of a child and pleaded guilty to a violation, according to the Post.

Lyft has since banned the driver, the Post reported.
