Queensborough Community College extended its application deadline amid a last-minute influx of applicants seeking all-remote options.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — Queensborough Community College has extended its application deadline amid a last-minute influx of applicants seeking all-remote options for higher education.
The Bayside college will allow students to enroll through Sept. 1, a week after the start of classes, according to a news release.
The extension is geared toward students who were previously enrolled in other colleges across the country that are resuming in-person classes despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

At Queensborough, 99.9 percent of classes are remote.
“We’re hearing from students who don’t want to be on a campus, but they don’t want to fall behind on their degrees either,” Queensborough Community College Vice President Stephen Di Dio said. "We want everyone to have an opportunity to study at Queensborough if their plans suddenly change.
