Cops were called to the man's Oakland Gardens home after he bashed her phone and tried to strangle her in a heated argument, police say.

OAKLAND GARDENS, QUEENS -- A deputy warden at Rikers Island was arrested for choking his girlfriend in his Queens home on Monday night, police said.
Floyd Phipps, 66, was cuffed at around 10 p.m. after he allegedly got physical in a fight with his girlfriend and repeatedly bashed her phone. A 911 call from his girlfriend at around 7:50 p.m. brought police to his Kingsbury Avenue home in Oakland Gardens, an NYPD spokesman said.
The Rikers deputy warden - according to city records - caused redness and pain to his girlfriend's neck when he grabbed it, but she was not hospitalized and is expected to recover, police said.
