Swan Rescued After Landing On Long Island Expressway In Queens
A rogue swan ruffled some feathers this weekend after it landed on the Long Island Expressway, bringing traffic to a standstill.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A rogue swan ruffled some feathers this weekend after it landed on the Long Island Expressway and brought traffic to a standstill.
The 20-pound bird ended up on the highway late Saturday afternoon near the exit for Little Neck Parkway, according to the New York Daily News.
A team of NYPD officers managed to corral the bird into a large carrier and brought her back to the 111th Precinct station in Bayside.

Not your everyday call!! This past weekend, Officers DeFranco and Baron rescued a swan causing a traffic jam on the Long Island Expressway during their tour after it crash landed on the highway.
The swan is now making a recovery in a local animal rescue.

From there, Bobby Horvath, who runs the nonprofit volunteer group Wildlife in Need of Rescue and Rehabilitation, took the swan under his wing.
Horvath speculated on Facebook that the swan may have come from Oakland Gardens or the bay off the Cross Island Parkway.

The swan is limping, thanks to abrasions on her feet from the crash landing, but she is expected to fully recover.
