BAYSIDE, QUEENS — Thousands of residents in and around Bayside were still without power Friday morning, days after Tropical Storm Isaias hit New York City.

About 6,600 households in Northeast Queens remained in the dark as of 10:30 a.m., many of which are not scheduled to get power back until Sunday night, according to the city's energy provider, Con Edison.

Areas still experiencing outages include Auburndale, Bayside, Bellerose, College Point, Glen Oaks, Little Neck, Oakland Gardens and Whitestone, according to Con Ed's power outage map.

An estimated 257,000 New York City households lost electricity during the storm Tuesday, when winds as strong as 73 mph sent trees and other debris crashing down onto power lines.

Con Ed called it the second-largest storm-related outage in its history, rivaled only by the 1.1 million outages caused by Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

More than 1,650 Con Ed workers are doing repairs with help from 819 mutual aid and contractor workers coming from as far as Iowa, Florida, Texas and Wisconsin. Another 311 workers are scheduled to arrive by this weekend to help with the repair efforts.

“We know how difficult living without power is," Matthew Ketschke, Con Ed's senior vice president of customer energy solutions, said in a statement. "That’s why we’re working around the clock until all customers affected by the storm are safely back in service."
