Truck Hits And Kills Man As He Walks On Bayside Road, NYPD Says

The unidentified man died on the Clearview Expressway, police said.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS – A tractor trailer driving on the Clearview Expressway in Bayside hit a manw ho was walking in the road, police said.

The 49-year-old truck driver was driving north in the middle lane, near 46th Avenue, on Aug. 25 when he saw the man.

"The operator of the vehicle observed the pedestrian, attempted to swerve but struck the pedestrian with the passenger side fender, sending him to the pavement," police said in a statement.

Responding officers found the victim lying unconscious in the middle of the road at 7:24 p.m., according to the NYPD.

He was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian/Queens hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The victim was not carrying any identification and was yet to be identified as of Tuesday afternoon, police added.

There were no arrests in the ongoing investigation, the NYPD said.
