Uber Launches New Service To Help LIRR Riders Make Their Train
Uber launched a new feature called "Make My Train" that will help LIRR commuters get to the station in time.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — Uber is launching a new feature called "Make My Train" to help Long Island Rail Road commuters stay on schedule, the ride-share service announced Friday.
Riders will now be able to view the LIRR schedule in the Uber app, select their train and pre-schedule an Uber ride that will get them to their station in time to make it on board, according to a press release.
"As we work to make Uber part of the public transportation ecosystem, we’re launching ‘Make My Train’ functionality to help make New Yorkers’ commute as seamless and efficient as possible," Head of Uber Transit David Reich said in a statement.

"Starting today, Uber will automate the process of taking an Uber to the LIRR taking into account ETAs, travel times and even delays so that riders can depart at just the right moment (and not waste a New York minute)," Reich said.
The LIRR is the country's busiest commuter rail line, with more than 300,000 riders on an average weekday. A record 91 million passengers took the LIRR last year, according to the MTA.

Last month, more than 3,000 people used Uber to connect to the LIRR, the ride-share company says.
Uber riders who enter a Long Island Rail Road station as their destination will automatically be taken to the "Make My Train" feature, which will prompt them to select the train they want to take then suggest a recommended departure time based on real-time data.
