DOUGLASTON, QUEENS — Weekend LIRR service on the Port Washington branch will run less often for the next few weekends to make room for renovation work at the Douglaston station, according to MTA officials.

Long Island Rail Road trains are running hourly instead of every 30 minutes on the Port Washington line for the next three weeks.

The service changes, which started this past weekend, will be in effect the weekends of March 14 to 15, March 21 to 22 and April 4 to 5.

On those weekends, all trains will arrive on and leave from the eastbound platform at the south side of the station.

The changes will enable Long Island Rail Road workers to rebuild the westernmost section of the Douglaston station's westbound platform, according to Aaron Donovan, a spokesperson for the MTA. Officials expect the work to take no longer than four weeks.
