BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — Questions about whether Brooklyn Borough President and mayoral candidate Eric Adams lives in New York City brought an unusual stop to the campaign trail on Wednesday — inside his house.

Adams gave reporters a tour of his Lafayette Avenue rowhouse, complete with a look inside the fridge, "modest" kitchen and "modest" bathroom, after a Politico story earlier this week unveiling conflicting official documents questioned whether he actually lived in the borough.

The piece, pointing out long hours and overnight stays at Borough Hall, alluded that Adams might instead be staying at a co-op he owns with his partner in Fort Lee, N.J.

"You know it's silly season when your opponents are staking out your office late at night so they can attack you for working hard!" Adams quickly Tweeted about the story.

On the tour, Adams showed reporters two floors of the townhouse, including a basement bedroom complete with a sneaker collection and the living room where his son, Jordan, a masters student, sometimes crashes, according to reports. The other floors are rental units, Adams said.

The candidate told reporters he is private given an incident when his son was born and someone shot at his car windows.

"[We] must’ve been home from the hospital for about two days — someone pulled up next to my car, called my name, I looked to the left and I saw an automatic weapon," a tearful Adams said, according to video from NY1 Reporter Courtney Gross.

The tour failed to convince some, though.

An "EricLivesInJersey" hashtag and even an "Eric Adams for New Jersey" Twitter account spurred by the Politico piece were still active Wednesday afternoon.

His top opponent in the mayoral race, Andrew Yang, who has himself been criticized for living outside of New York City in the last year, suggested Adams release his E-ZPass records.

"If you've been in Brooklyn then it will show nothing and it will all be gone," he said Wednesday, according to a video. "But, I have a feeling he will not release his E-ZPass records because it will show very clearly that he has been living in New Jersey for most of the last two years."
